Old renovations

I've never posted pictures of the
original condition of the house and our early renovations. I want to catch up chronicling on our almost two years of progress

The third bedroom was in the worst condition of any of the interior. On the other side of this closet in the third bedroom is a water heater closet. The water heater had clearly had a major leak of some sort the spewed water that damaged the third bedroom and halfway. The closet was missing dry wall due to the damage, most of the carpet had been torn out exposing the cement floor and what remained was stained along with some major stains to the remaining carpet.

We took possession on a Thursday which was the same day a major conference for work started. So the real labor began the next Monday. When my family came to help my sister, Vicki, took on making this room livable. She has had tons of experience rehabbing her own homes and was put to good use. We are fairly impressive for a bunch girls. :) I guess our house being under constant remodeling as a child taught us some skills.

New Year's Goals

Working for a religious non-profit is great...for many reasons. One that I love is that they desire to see you develop as a whole person and not solely in your job role. I also recently completed a leadership class at my church where we were challenged to consider who God has called us to be as individuals and to make some goals in light of that. So I spent some time at the end of the year coming up with them.

1. To make this little house a home

2. Keep my desk clean in the office

3. Host lots of people in my house (like 52)

4. Refelecting on life more...which I'll do a lot by updating this

5. Join the Y and actually go

Well, for the most part they are pretty ongoing goals (and some might be miraculous like keeping my desk clean) but I am good at starting.

Like joining the Y. I love that they have no joining fee for the first 10 days of the new year. Another plus is that our benefits program is currently rebating you for half the cost of your membership if you join and actually go. It is such a nice added incentive.

Home

In a few short weeks this little place will be mine. I am excited to have a new home! As it is a foreclosure I am also super excited to no longer be dealing with the bank selling me the home. They leave a lot to be desired when it comes to customer service. Let me know if you want to come over and paint. I am sure that there will be several painting extravaganzas.

the start

I love the lines to this song and it is my prayer that my life would be permeated by the Spirit and the Word as this song describes. I long for the seasons to be extended more through out my life. I long for it become a truer reflection of His grace continues to redeem my sinful little heart.

This blog will be a random collection of deep thoughts, updates on life and pictures.

Abide in me, O Lord, and I in Thee,
From this good hour, oh, leave me nevermore;
Then shall the discord cease, the wound be healed,
The lifelong bleeding of the soul be o'er.

Abide in me; o'ershadow by Thy love
Each half formed purpose and dark thought of sin;
Quench ere it rise each selfish, low desire,
And keep my soul as Thine, calm and divine.

As some rare perfume in a vase of clay,
Pervades it with a fragrance not its own,
So, when Thou dwellest in a mortal soul,
All Heaven's own sweetness seems around it thrown.

Abide in me; there have been moments blest
When I have heard Thy voice and felt Thy power;
Then evil lost its grasp; and passion, hushed,
Owned the divine enchantment of the hour.

These were but seasons beautiful and rare;
Abide in me, and they shall ever be;
Fulfill at once Thy precept and my prayer,
Come, and abide in me, and I in Thee.
